Default 62 engine number question

I have a very nice 62 w/ a non-original 327/300 engine w/ a ground off stamp. I have an opportunity to buy the following engine for $400.00 if having these numbers will increase the cars value.

The left rear block is GM3782870
Right Rear Block is A192
The Front Right deck is F0307S

Can anyone tell me what this engine is out of and whether it makes sense for me to buy it?

Thanks,

Joe

If my memory serves me correct, the S says it came out of a Chevy full size (Impala). In my opinion, the only engine worth buying for increased value is your original one. Outside of that, drive and enjoy that 62. I do mine.

On a positive note, it's correct for the period of your Corvette. It may also be around the date it was built. Overall it may not be the original engine but it is a 327. I would dress it as if was the original engine and enjoy it. Personally I believe it is better to have a period correct engine then having a modified or a much later production engine.

But that's how I look at it,

If your car is a powerglide car with that 300hp. Just get the correct "D" stamp and the now SD means Corvette 300hp auto.

Or SC for a 250 hp powerglide car? What engine / trans combo did your car come with originally?
