I'm doing a frame off on a late 63 and the stencil on the frame is in the correct position on the passenger side, upside down.
My stencil has the correct part # and serial # is correct, but should the part # be closest to the ground or the serial #.
The original on the frame as is sits is the serial # closest to the ground with the part # on top.
Is this correct ??

I just finished mine, and the way the stencil was printed and sent to me, the serial # is upsided down on top of the upside down part number, which is closestto the ground. Don't know which is correct, but that is the way mine is. good luck

That's what i have been seeing in pictures, and in the restoration guides. Just wanted to make sure because mine is opposite. Only want to restencil the frame once !!
The gas tank stencil is also on the right (pass) side, bottom of the fuel tank. Is this the right side ? I have seen pictures and it looks like they were done on both sides, depending on which way the tank was positioned on the rack when it was stenciled.
According to the 63/64 NCRS Judging manual...."the written date and the stenciled part numbers appear upside down as viewed from below with the frame part number appearing closest to the ground with the A.O. Smith part number and the production sequence number 303196-XX above it. The XX suffix characters are 3/4 " high and are a single digit in 1963 models usually in the range of 1 through 5, while 1964 models are two digits usually in the range of 10 through 12." Dave
