I put in a new starter switch on my 61 and it sticks on the start position and I have to manually turn it to the left to disengage the the starter. I figure it needs some type of lube since I had it for years on the shelf. Anyone have any idea what would be best to lube the starter switch with that wont cause a short.
Thanks
Never had one apart but I think there is a spring like thingee in the switch that is supposed to switch it back from START to RUN when you release the key so not sure lube will help...in fact there are cases where it hurt and the switch would no longer stay in other 'detent' positions -- like OFF vs RUN.
Keen parts will be at NCRS this month and can have one there, on-site for your pick up if you want to go with a new one, if you order now (they carry them)....just a thought in case you can't get it going by then..

I just got it to work. I took the tumbler out and pushed the recessed internal porclein mechanism in and out a few times, and turned the key a couple dozen times and all of a sudden it started to spring back. Who know? If it stays working great, but if it quits prior to the NCRS in Orlando I will buy another one.
Thanks
