What's a date code on a 1962 corvette windshield look like. And the reproduction windshields, do the date codes look quality. Or are the numbers/letters not as sharp. Is it worth the extra $100.0 to put a date code on one.
You would be hard pressed to tell the LOF date code on my '61 replacement windshield from the 'real deal', I can take a picture if you want. The bad news is I got the piece from OEM glass - which I understand has now ceased operations.
yea frank, if it is not to much trouble post a picture. I've never even seen a date code. thanks chet

As requested.
A picture from my files...C1 windshield date code; it appears nearly all the way around the glass at the bottom near the passenger side windshield frame pillar.
LOF = Libby Owens Ford
AS 1 = Americans Standard Classification "1" (Windshield) a "2" would be "Body Glass"
CL =
(There is a zany scheme for the date code I found the following but not sure its correct):
LOF Month Code - First Character
N X L G J I U T A Y C V
Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
LOF Year Code - Second Character
A Z X V T N Y U L I C G J
1953 1954 1955 1956 1957 1958 1959 1960 1961 1962 1963 1964 1965
1966 1967 1968 1969 1970 1971 1972 1973 1974 1975 1976 1977 1978
1979 1980 1981 1982 1983 1984 1985 1986 1987 1988 1989 1990 1991

thanks frank, that is some crazy scheme. The N X L G J, etc does not even make sense. Looks like they would of used A B C D E F, etc.
Corvette Central has dissected the codes and is in their early model Corvette catalogues........ the book that pictures a 59 0r 60 on the cover and should be in their online books

NCRS dissected the codes long before CC put them in their catalog!

not everybody knows that, at least I didn't nor belongs to the association....but I guess its always useful to have several locations of window information to make sure all the ducks are in a row for those important number checkers abounding about providing authenticity and providing expert approval or other comments

If it was a snake it would have biten me. I have that catalog and even looked at the windshields but never notice the date code tables.
