Default rear valance

I have a 66/67 rear valance that needs a crack repaired. I've had a bonding issue with poly resin. Is it possible that this could be an after market part made of smc? How do you tell the difference? There's a number on it, DT 40-1868-70, any one have an idea?
Thanks

The number just tells us it was a replacement. I dont know of any SMC rear panels. Pics?

If you are just trying to make a small repair and the product you are not using will not adhering properly, try the 3m panel bonding adhesive. It's the best stuff i have ever used and will bond pretty much anything together. I actually used it the other day to fix a leak in a cast iron intake manifold. I also used it to glue submersed tiles back on to an outdoor spa where mortar continued to fail. It has a long set up/cure time, so you have at least an hour to move the part around if you are bonding two pieces together.
Part number 8001

I used Eckler's bonding adhesive to repair my front C1 valance and I'll tell you what; its not coming off short of a jack hammer: http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/bondi...ive-quart.html

The problem with their bonding adhesive is that it sets up way too fast and gives a rough look, as seen in your picture. Granted, that is probably not an issue for small repairs, but if you want the factory look, the 3m part number 8001 will look more or less just like it. Since it has such a long cure time, you can easily add a little extra adhesive and get the correct amount to squeeze out and even run in some places on bonding strips. Since it cures so slowly it dries with a smooth finish without clumps.
