I took the car out Sat. it ran great. I got in it Sun. turn the key and click, click, click then all the lights go out. Turn the key again nothing not even a click. So I get out and look to see if my battery disconnect may not be tightened all the way but it was. So I go bak to get in the car open the door and the interior lights come on so I turn the key and it fires right up. This same thing happened about a year ago in Ocean City. What the heck can it be? You probably have a bad connection somewhere.

If you have a green **** disconnect, I'd start there. Just because a connection is tight doesn't mean it's a good connection.

In all probability, there was a poor connection at the battery post or at the disconnect. You improved the connection when you checked it. You might want to re-visit that area looking for loose or corroded bits.

Battery cable ground on block? Positive cable attachment at your starter clean and tight? Dirty battery cable connections on battery? At times the cables can be corroded inside the insulation jacket and out of site to your eye. Your green **** battery disconnect clean and working?

Had the same thing happen with a 69 Camaro when I was a kid.
I was pissed and slammed the door and it worked again.
Then a few days later happened again. Once the car was running, no problems with power. I lucked out and found the problem. It was a fusible link on the positive battery cable. It had burned in two but would touch and the power would be on. You could not see it by just looking for it. I was checking the cables for a bad connection and just happened to pull on the link and it stretched several inches. I cut it open to look at it and it was toast.
Replaced it and solved the problem. They sell them at all of the auto parts stores.

Agree with Jim & Mike concerning the green **** disconnect switch. Unscrew the **** and inspect the contact surfaces of the **** and switch. A close inspection will reveal some light pitting which eventually will cause an open on the switch. The use of a knife lever switch from Wirth Co. will eliminate this issue.

Shemp
I'm with the others - check the green know battery cut-off. They are well known for being troublesome.
The other coomon point for electrical issues is the big plug connection at the firewall as I'm sure you know but based on your info the battery cutoff seems the most likely especially since it starting working again after you fiddled with it

I replace the "green ****" disconnect about every year or so. They get corrosion and don't work. They are so cheap I just throw it out and put a new one on. They are only about $3 a piece at car shows.

Same thing just happened on my daily driver--Acura TL. I thought the battery was dead. Turned out to be bad connection at the batter post. Take a wire brush and make 'em shiny!
