Default C2: SB cars with aftermarket intakes - 5/8" heater hose

Okay,
Running my heater hoses. Have the 3/4 inch one installed:

My question to you all running a small block with and aftermarket intake(I'm using a Perfromer RPM), where do you run the hose? Here's a pic where it would attach in my car, but it seems to be routing over the valve cover. Is this normal, or is there another fitting I should be using?

TIA

I've got the Performer EPS with same outlet. I plumbed the hose slightly ahead of the valve cover:

May want to switch the intake fitting to a right angle so you can easilly run it across in front of the valve cover or even lower in front of the cylinder head so it isn't so prominant which is what was done by previous owner on my 65 which has a Performer intake.

It can be plugged... I used the location that is shown in the above photos as the location for my temperature sender. Then I had my good friend Jeff B. drill and pipe tap the boss on the front of the intake... Looks just like the L79 intake location... See the photo I have posted below...

The braided lines have enough stiffness that it's just not a problem and the hose on mine doesn't even touch the valve cover.

The hose still has plenty of flex and removing the valve cover is no problem at all.
