IMHO

The C2 gets old as daily transportation.

I will take 21st century technology for my daily grind anytime.

An early C4 in good shape is still probably the cheapest to buy, and you can park it anywhere without a second thought!

Buy a cheap C5 coupe. They're everywhere for sale.

Get 30 MPG on a trip. Fun to drive.

I had a 2000, now I have a 2001. Very comfortable cars.

Hard to beat 505 horsepower with 27 mpg on the highway. Fantastic car. An 06 or 07 with low miles can be purchased in the low 40's.

I'm on the side of all the folks who r in the drive the sob camp. When I got my Top Flight trailer queen it was in as new as possible condition. I will never enter it for judging & drive it several times per week. It's one hell of a lot of fun....btw...it is picking up signs that it's being driven now & not on a trailer...but geez...that's what happens to cars!

Yes...parking it is somewhat scary, but almost all the hazards can be mitigated by choosing u'r spot carefully.

OTOH...I wouldn't drive it to work every day (I'm retired) & u do have to budget for the gasoline cost. Both r important considerations.

I wonder if that's what got him his 30 days off?

Looks like an early C6 is the way to go. I'll post some pics on another thread.
One of the biggest kicks for me is taking my friends along for drives & letting them drive it if they want too.......it's a car for cryingoutloud.

I let them drive the racing version, but it wasn't easy. The ladies really had shifting issues (hurst competition clutch).

All good now, will be a nice manageable stock c2 later this spring. Wife gave permission for a another one ( I threatened to trade in our bus and she said , no, just buy another corvette).

I've been looking at c5's. That seems to be the right price range and lots of them around.

I like your style.

You know, you could have spent the same money on a brand new Corvette. You would have driven it, enjoyed it and it would have depreciated. The car you bought you are also driving and enjoying and it is depreciating too (but not as much or as quickly).

In a strictly financial sense, what's the difference other than you're living large in a car that's a lot more special to you than something you just pick up "off the rack".
