and realized I still have to paint my steering column. Anyone know where I can get Daytona Blue 916 which is GM Code WA3112 , Ditzler PPG 12696 , Dupont 4395L, 181-96220 or Acme Rogers 9177, in a spray can?
Checked Paragon, Ecklers, Willcox, Long Island Corvette, Corvette Central.
none have it
so did I, mine is blue though. Should it be black? Since you mentioned it, I googled "63 Corvette Interiors" under images. Red 63 are seen in pictures with Red columns or Black ones. Teal Blue with Black or Teal Blue?
I got the interior dye in the correct color that Corvette America makes.
Lots of vendors sell it
It may not be correct to "dye" metal, but it worked for me.
I used it to change color of dash pads from black to blue, and on the center of the console where the radio is.
Cleaned areas up well with lacquer thinner and sprayed multiple fine coats.
Should work on the steering column as well.
I used the CA dark blue dye to redo the shifter console, lower inner windshield trim piece, and rear soft top frame guards. I thought it sprayed out well for a rattle can paint.
To my eye the color hue of the CA dark blue was a bit on the dark side.
Dennis, the Corvette America rattle can for 63 Dark Blue is spot on for our cars. The mast jacket, window trim, radio side panels and the kick panel metal all came out looking new. Smooth flowing paint. Don't forget the primer first for sanding. TR
