Default 1967 Ignition Switch

I am trying to remove the entire ignition switch from the dash of my 67 vette. The nut on the front of the dash unscrews so far, then spins or freewheels. Is there a secret combination to get the nut off the switch in order to remove it from the dash?

On the Switch itself, under the dash on top where the electric plugs in, there is a spring loaded little button, push down on it and PULL the headlight switch as if your turning them on. The **** should pull out and then the switch will come out.

That's the headlight switch procedure -- he is talking the ignition switch. Usually you have to stick a paper clip in the small hole in the face of the ignition switch and turn the key all the way to the left and remove the cylinder...THEN you can remove the bezel/nut and the switch will come out.

With the key inserted, FIRST turn it to the left as far as you can (Accessory position); THEN insert the paper clip in the hole and push against spring pressure, and continue turning the key to the left, and the cylinder will pop out.
