thanks for the pix, looks like the tires stick out a bit, hope they tuck in and you don't bust a wheel well...

Default On to something now!

You guys are geniuses!! I stopped by my shop and did some measurements. I measured from flange to flange on car and then the half shaft. One side was 15 1/8 and the other was 14 1/2. The half shaft is 15 inches. This explains alot. If they were in I would have no clearence issues. I cant thank you guys enough. I was having a small heart attack. I also discovered that I can lift the rear of the body by hand and scoot it over if needed to be centered over the wheels once they are half way aligned.

Based on those pictures, expect to break the fenders when you hit the first bump with those wheels on the car.

GTS custom and Ecklers have 1-1.5 wider qaurters. They will more then clear. I have a 360lb spring in the back and bilstien shocks so it doesnt move much. Probably going to ride a like lumber wagon.

We have built several Midyear Resto Mods with 10" wide rear wheels. There is NO WAY they can travel up into the stock wheel well without making contact - I can see that from the photos! Send me an e-mail and I can send photos and instructions how to install a very subtle flared rear quarter that works perfectly.

You can twist half shafts (even in two) given enough HP and enough tire. One of mine had about 10 deg twist to it when I pulled it out years ago. I've seen pictures of half shafts twisted in two. More frequent are grenaded u-joints. I'm not sure what you have for power but if you have a lot of HP with those tires you can do some damage to stock half shafts if your determined. At least use the Spicer u-joints without grease fittings.
