Default Disc front conversion

I've searched - but it's not clear to me.

I intend fitting a VBP front disc conversion to my '64. The car is currently all drum brakes, OEM single master cylinder and OEM power booster.

1.Do I need to change master cylinders ? ...if I'm not fussed about installing a dual master cylinder at this stage, can I keep my brand new 64 master cylinder?

2. Do I need a residual pressure valve if I go front disc only (I think the answer is yes..)

3. Do I need a proportioning valve to regulate front to rear bias? (again I think the answer is yes...)

4. If I keep my 64 master cylinder, I assume I don't need to do anything with my rear brake line?

Thanks for the advice..

The '64 M/C will work, but its fluid capacity is nominal when you add the disk calipers. A '65 M/C provides plenty of capacity and is also 1 port.

The EASIEST way to do this involving the fewest changes and best ability to return to stock.

Put the '65 M/C on and connect it as the '64 M/C was done.

Disconnect the brake line to the rear brakes from the front junction "T" located by the steering box.

Plumb a 10# residual valve and adjustable proportioning valve to the outlet of the "T" from where you removed the rear brake line.

Plumb the existing rear brake line after the proportioning valve, bending the line just a bit around the "T" for clearance so that you can return it to stock if desired.

OR,

Use a dual M/C.

Plumb the front line of the M/C to the front "T"

Remove the rear line from the "T" and cap the hole on the "T"

Plumb the rear line of the M/C to the 10# residual valve and adjustable proportiong valve then to the rear line that you removed from the "T,"

OR,

Cut and flare the existing rear line and bend it into place at the location of the new proportioning valve.

AND/OR, replace the front "T" with a line lock to up the Fun Factor!

I used a 67 Corvette master cyl. on mine, installed a residual valve in the rear and a proportioning valve in it main line and it works great.
