Default engine install help

I've put the engine back in. It is still hooked to the hoist because it lacks about 1 inch sliding over the motor mounts. I cant get it to budge. The block is about 1 inch from the bell housing. Any suggestions ?
I have the muncie bolted in but not snug and jacked up on a floor jack to get it at the angle that the engine is coming in on the hoist. I would say that the trans pin shaft is in ,considering it only lacks about an inch .Should I have the trans on a jack ? Think the pin is in the hole ?

You did use a clutch alignment tool prior to installing it right? I had to remove my fuel pump to install my engine. Or you could take the engine back out and hook the tranny to it, then install it as a unit.

Trans input shaft is not in the pilot bearing, probably due to the spline not aligning to the clutch disc.

Yeah i used the line up pin. I took the fuel pump off. I'm going to try and turn the crank a little and see if I have any luck. If not , i'm gonna pull the trans.

Have somebody push the clutch in and release it then wiggle the engine a little and it should drop right in place.

Sometimes, you have to hold your mouth just right!

No need to pull the transmission.

PS. Is the bellhousing bolted tight to the engine or the transmission?

He says the bellhousing is about an inch from the block so it sounds like it is on the the tansmission. Some cut off bolt alignment dowels might be useful if it was on the engine.

be sure the trans is in a gear, if in neutral, you are spinning your wheels.....

Rather than trying to turn the crank possibly easier to place trans in neutral slightly rotate to get spline lined up with clutch disc. At an inch away this most likely is your issue...
