Default '63 Battery Relocation

The weight of a Optima battery would seem too heavy for the back compartment of the mid year vettes without re-enforcing it. Anyone have pictures of their modification?

No pictures, but I mounted the battery in the compartment behind the passenger seat 10+ years ago in my 63 Convertible. I also mounted the Cole-herse kill switch where the driver could easily turn on/off.
It was a great mod with no issues.

As long as you have a solid floor....I see no problem. I installed my Optima in the rear compartment approx. 6 years ago with no issues to date. I first adhered two 1" x 2" oak fir strips to the floor of the rear compartment... the width of a billet battery hold-down using fiberglass adhesive and screwed the hold-down in place. I also installed a carpeted rear compartment cover which gave me a finished level rear floor.
