The suits sat me down one day and explained that they wanted to take the magazine in a new direction. I was shown the door.

The suits are still there and Corvette Fever is gone. I never really understood that that the "new direction" was to kill the magazine.

btw - I'm having a great time over at Vintage Motorsport magazine these days.

We've been long-term subscribers to most of the Corvette magazines and still do since we enjoy reading most of the articles and seeing the full sized images. The internet though has certainly changed the timliness and provided the means of interaction for information about our hobby. Having been associated with Corvette Fever magazine for several years we learned a lot about what it takes to write the articles and put an edition together.

We still subscribe to Vette and Corvette Magazine but have to say that the magazine we most look forward to receiving is Vintage Motorsports. The quality of the articles, photography and coverage of the vintage racing events is top notch.

There are some good things happening in the print business.

How are your newsstand sales? That's where a lot of magazines are getting killed. The big distributors only want the big broad based mags like Oprah, they don't want to be bothered with verticles. I was a general manager for one of the NASCAR mags and even with the mass appeal of NASCAR a few years ago we struggled keeping up with their demands. Of course the Internet really took its toll on a time sensitive sport like racing.

I don't get into the sales stuff very much but I know everyone seems happy with our distributor. We're in all the Barnes and Noble stores. At least the ones that are left.

The IPad sales are growing slowly - but consistently.

Everyone at Vintage Motorsport magazine believes we have to give the read a quality product. That means good paper, a thick cover, great photography and of course good writing. If you want to succeed in today's market you have to do it all.

The true test is what you do with the magazine when in arrives in your mailbox. Is it an event? Or, does it get thrown in a pile on the dining room table.
