Not quite as period as some, but still it was 30 years ago. I got back late at night from painting it in the swamp and headed to Moroso to race this morning. Notice the steering wheel is still wrapped in masking paper.
I got to the track, we removed the rest of the masking, installed the windscreen and roll bar pads, stickered it, and went racing.

I'm new here so i can't contribute too much but I can add a couple of old pictures.
This is my '59 back in about 1970. It was stolen and wrecked in a police chase. I emptied my entire savings account ($500) to buy it. I thought my Father was going to kill me when he saw it. In the end it was great experience because he was quite proud of me for getting it back together. I'm pretty embarrassed about the paint job. I was fascinated by the idea of painting through lace. It wasn't easy and I hated it when I was done.
This was my cousin's '59 sometime in the 60's. It was the C Modified Production record holder at West Hampton Drag Strip on LI.

Lace paint jobs were all the rage back then. Usually on stripes down the hood or panels on the side to accent the car, kind of like how you did the cove and the top.

Funny, I didn't think this pic was very old? BUT, it was in 76 so it's over 40 years ago! That's my brand new Honda Civic in the background.

That's my mother and me, in the West hills of Portland ... 1967, in my avatar. I had just taken delivery of a brand new 67'; 350/327; 3:36; m-20 Roadster from Phil Fields "Chevytown."
Unfortunately Phil and his son were already dead by then, after losing both engine on takeoff in his Riley Rocket. (Converted Cessna 310) It had been filled with Jet-A.

I like that avatar location "Taildraggers rule" I live in Oregon, and I'm one of those nutty pilots who also like tail draggers. I've flown everything from a Smith MiniPlane to a B-17, love that tailwheel.

Not Corvette, but this 1975 Pontiac LeMans GT has been in my family since new. I bought it, drove the hell out of it, gave it to my Mother, who drove the hell out of it, she passed and left it to my youngest brother who has it in pieces now with a tricked out 455 to go in it someday soon. 42 years in the family. Completely rust free, not so much as a parking ding anywhere, in original Lakemist Green and pristine upholstery with bench seat.
