Default throttle return spring attachment question

I have a 4150 2818 holley carb on my 65 327/350. Does the return spring attach to the end of the accelerator rod bushing or to another hole somewhere else? I have seen it both ways. Also, how should the linkage be adjusted on the accelerator rod?

The throttle rod and return spring installation is as shown in the '65 photo below; the "hook" end of the spring goes through the hole in the rod, and the white plastic sleeve in the rubber bushing goes with the flange on the inboard side, toward the carburetor. The throttle linkage adjustment procedure is in UPC 6 in your Assembly Manual.

So the end of the rod with the threaded portion and fitting/cotter pin goes towards the firewall side and the fixed end goes towards the spring side ? I don't have an assembly manual. I just got my carb back from Eric Jackson. Sorry, I am such a newbie girl.
