Default '67 Centre parking brake on a '64?

Hi Guys. Has anyone here converted a pre '67 to the Centre Parking brake handle?
I'm aware there are some differences in the floorpan, but it can't be that much work can it??

Unless you're already building from scratch, I can't see that it would be worth the effort and expense.

Default Electric Parking Brake

If you're going to all that trouble you might think about an electric parking brake. Lots of cars are going to this feature and you can find parts to manufacture one in the junk yard. Most of these are simple linear actuators that run on 12 volts. If you dig around you'll see that some of the restomod guys have used this method and can provide details.

You'd be giving up the center "jump" seat.

I did, just because I thought it looked nicer. I used a piece of 67 tunnel cut out. don't remember the details, but I think there were two nut glassed in it? It does have very specific shape that must followed for the handle base to fit properly. John Z probably has a photo of the area. Not too hard, but you will have to change the frame brackets as well. Good luck . Chuck

It's a pretty substantial rework to the tunnel area to create the shape required for the '67 parking brake handle mounting bracket and reinforcements; the left side of the photo below shows the normal tunnel surface at the shifter, and everything to the right of that has to be re-created to accommodate the handle.

Thanks for the replies Guys. Does seem quite a bit of work!
Maybe worth getting a donor floorpan to cut out like previously suggested.
Cheers

Finally, a '67 as donor to a '64!

Couldn't you use a shark floor pan center That would be easier and cheaper to find

I helped a guy do it with a C-3 section once and it worked fine. Just glassed it in. Welded the pulley bracket to the crossmember and all was good.

Used the C-3 handle and '67 cover.

I think the 67 handle was used up until 76
