Default KMC wheels

I recently bought a 65 with KMC casting marks on the inside. They look like knock offs but I am suspicious and think they might be "bolt on knock offs". I searched KMC's web site but it looks like they don't make C2 wheels anymore. Does anyone have experience with these wheels?

Can't be both......bolt-on or knock-off. Each are distinctly different. Most likely a knock-off made by KMC. From my experiences a quality wheel.

This puzzled me because I see most of the Corvette parts suppliers have "Bolt on Knock-Off" wheel sets. Here's the one from Corvette Central:

"bolt-on knock-offs" is a commonly used term to describe a wheel that looks like an original knock-off, but is bolted on instead while using an original-styled spinner for appearance.

It's also used to describe factory 67 bolt-on aluminum wheels, although at that point I think bolt-in knock-off is a misnomer because the 67 wheels made no attempt to represent themselves as a knock-off installation.

KMC made both, if they're actually KOs, the spinners should have some sign of being bashed with a lead hammer ?
Did the car come with a lead hammer ?

No hammer. No jack. But it's beautiful! And pulls like a train.

I'm going to have to pound on one of those spinners to see what's underneath.

Don't do that....if it's not a real spinner, you'll damage it.

Somebody post for LoveMyC2 how a KMC bolt-on "spinner" hub cover comes off so he can try that first. Pics? I'd like to know how they're attached myself!

Pop out the center cap. There's a pin holding the spinner so it doesn't move. Take out the pin and spin the spinner off. Then the cone comes off, exposing the lug nuts.

Thanks, Vette Daddy! So the wheel has a protruding threaded center for the spinner to attach that clears the hub dust cap?

Go to one of the big Corvette parts suppliers and look at the pictures of wheels. You should be able to see the difference in a bolt-on verese a KO.

I you do indeed have KOs PLEASE do a search on how to properly mount these wheels. If done properly they will work like a dream, if done wrong the will work like a nightmare.
