Default 67 side pipes question

I have a small block 327. I need new side pipes, just the pipes not the covers. Mine are 2 inch and they get wider at the bend before the crimps. Can I go to the 2 1/2 inch and still use my stock manifolds??? And who has the best quality and prices?? Thanks

Which stock exhaust manifolds do you have - 2" or 2-1/2" outlets? What are the casting numbers?

John that was a good question. 2 inch outlets. 3747042 LH32, 3846559A LH30. I guess I'll go with the 2 inch. Who has nice pipes? Car is not all original so I don't have to stick oem. Should I go aluminum or stainless for the price difference??

You might talk to Allens Exhaust - they may be able to fabricate 2-1/2 inch sidepipes with a 2 inch outlet/flange. Not sure how much gain that will get you with 2 inch manifolds. The larger pipes will also be louder in most cases although on a stock hydraulic lifter motor it may not be by much.

I would recommend aluminized. Mine are probably 15 years old now and still look brand new.

Thanks Dan. My pipes are the originals and they are shot. My 327 is balanced and has a pretty big cam in it with some roller lifters. I was just trying to get a little extra breathing room for her.

I saw no gain in the 2.5 manifolds over the 2 inch on the dyno.........
