C2 interior clock

Took apart the housing of my 66 interior clock. Was sure it wouldn't work, even with the car being off the road for 40 years. Cleaned the leads hooked up a voltage power supply and sure enough it works. Ran it a full hour and it's still accurate to the second. Its ingenious. The Solenoid clicks on for one second and then the level keeps the clock going for a few mins. Fantastic design so not to drain the battery. Futuristic stuff for a 50+year old design.

That design is a lot older than 50 years....

Understand as to how it was lubricated! That was probably 99% of the reason they stopped working.

Indeed.
And they are very "maintainable".
Points are the weakest link it keeping it running.
And they gum up also.
Its been 3years since I went over mine, and it still runs good.
