I use them on my courtesy lights in the '61. The fakey plastic enclosure wouldn't let the lens cover go on so I just snapped it off. Its just a dust cover anyway. The LED lights tend to have a slightly bluish cast when operating - other than that I see no problem using them.

I tried them for the interior courtesy lights in my '66 Mustang. They were pretty awful... they gave off a dingy blue light. It could not have looked more unnatural. I quickly switched back. It was a waste of $15 or $20.
I also installed LEDs in my 65 dash. They are a whiter light. They show up better when it is completely dark. During the dusk hours they don't show up as bright. When it is completely dark I like them. FYI. The dimmer switch does not work with LEDs. Not enough resistance.
I special ordered some from "Corvette Mods". They fit the 1963 SWC I installed them in for the dash cluster and clock. They have more LED'S than the ones from Super bright LEDS...and I know that the customer loved them.

And yes...you can not dim them at all.

Classic Instruments now puts them in their gauges if you want them, and they also make a special dimmer switch that you wire through your original switch to allow the lights to be fully dimmable, I am using this on my 56. Brian
The '65 may be fine but I wouldn't use them on a '63 or '64. I tried them on my '64 (included pics here at the time) and the raised section around the cone provides an obstruction such that the light doesn't get to the other side of the gauge for sh-t.
Does someone know the bulb code on these dash bulbs for the c2 dash. I got a message back from corvetteMod and the guy is in need of that...Robert
Stock bulb numbers
turn signal 1816, Ins panel 1816, clock 1816, radio 1816, H/beam 1443, heater 1893, parking brake 257, head light motor warning 257, foot well 90. These number are for 1965

I called these guys they can not tell you if their LED light will fit into the stock cluster are not.
I sell LED tail lights and parking lights but I do not sell LED bulbs.
But United Pacific Industries my supplier sells a bulb that is a LED replacement for a 1893 (pn 38565) and I have them in my 57 Corvette dash and they look OK but not spectacular. I feel that the std LED bulb is to focused and in the dash application they do no scatter the light very well. UPI also has a 4 micro LED replacement for a 1893 which might do a better job but I have not tried them.
I think the base on the std. 1893, 1816 and #57 are all the same, the difference in the bulbs is the candlepower (CP).

If you have a problem getting them from Corvette Mods...PM me and I will look for the receipt I have from them so they will know what part number they sold me. The LED's were quite nice and I had no problem in installing them in any of the places in the dash cluster and the clock.
I know I will get C2 LED's again from them when I need them.
