Hi, I just had both headlight motors rebuilt for my 67 but the passenger side light is still slower and then stops sometimes. Sometimes it stops mid stroke, sometimes it rolls all the way but then won't move again. When it stops, I wait a little and then it will move again. Any ideas what could be wrong?

While you had the motors out for rebuild, did you check both buckets for free movement through their entire range of motion? If your shaft bearings are corroded or seized to the pivot shafts, the motors won't operate them properly.
Probably don't want to hear this but the Detroit Speed electric conversion kit is the only way to go. It eliminates the rotational switch and the buckets spin around quickly and in perfect unison.
Not "original" but no one will know but you and they work awesome.

+1. Rebuilt my original motors and stored them away. The Detroit Speed conversion is the only way to go if you're not worried about Top Flight/Duntov judging. Very convenient and dependable.

If the motor is struggling or is in a bind, the internal limit switch will turn power to the motor off. That is why the motor works again after a rest. The switch cools down and reconnects.

That makes sense. I will take it back apart and see if I can make the bucket spin smoother. I will check back with results. Thanks all
Well I lubed up that bucket and it rotates as free as possible now. Motor still cuts out now and then. Anything else I should try?
If you're still struggling with this I'd recommend disassembling the gearboxes one more time. It's crucial to get all the old grease out before you repack with wheel bearing grease. Then run the motors on the bench and make sure they're moving energetically before you attach the gearboxes.
Let me know if you need more specific help and I'll walk you through it.
