Don't know what your 68 looked like (was it a complete car?) but that does not sound like a very fair deal to me. An entire newly manufactured frame from the guys in MI can be gotten for under $6K I believe. If you can, I would get my car back and buy a new frame with no headaches. I always hate to say this but, have your lawyer write him a nasty letter and I would bet he rescinds the transaction rather than gets sued over bad item passed on to you. An honest person would stand behind the transaction. Pilot Dan
I dont see how you can make much of a determination with it jacked up that way.
Set the frame on a level surface on stands. level the four corners of the center box. Then check all four corners against the specifications for that frame. The rear mounts should be about 7 inches higher, and the front horns about 3/4 lower than the center box mounts.
The car is completely level to the other car. What i did, i used a straight edge that went acrossed the 2 car's at the front, mid and at the kick-ups. i also put the body back on my frame and it matched up. Well here is a photo of my 68 it has a new rebuilt 454 . New tire, great wheels, new gas tank. The interior of my car needed restored and my trans. was slipping out of 2nd. The owner of the car before me cut the fender well trim off, i guess to put on larger tire's. Plus he also got 2k by paypal. He said his rolling chassis was worth 10 to 15 k. My 68 needed some work but it was worth 7 to 9 k. [IMG][/IMG]
That's not a bad looking car for the money, and with a new engine to boot. I'd want that back if I were you. You could buy a new frame and pay someone to transfer / rebuild with new bushings ect...and still come out way ahead of the deal you got which is gonna cost you more still to fix. Good luck, I hope you can make this guy come around and do the right thing.
