I have a 64 coupe and in the process of redoing the wiring harness.
An anyone tell me what and where this is that the red arrow is pointing?
Thanks,
Joe
That should be light for the glove compartment. Hot all the time till the button switch is installed to shuth off when door is closed. It should be under dash close by.
Yup - that would be the orange wire on the right hanging down below the trim tag with the electrical tape on it. And, yes, it is full-time hot, and one of the few hot wires on the car with a bare metal 'male' connector exposed when not connected.
Soooo it should be taped off when not connected to the glove box bulb/socket arrangement for safety purposes.

Frankie didn't know you took that 63 that far down dash, cluster, steering box doors paint dash pads and the list goes on ,What a job.
Thought you had a turn key.
The car needed dash pads (already supplied by the seller) so that was a dash pull anyway so I put Vintage Air in at the same time and discovered the classic clutch pedal broken weld at the cross shaft...so that meant a pedal bracket ***'y pull. Then the doors would drop a bit when they were opened and weren't fit optimally. That meant hinge rebuilds and door re-alignment.
New dash pads made the rest of the interior look a little tired so --- new headliner, door panels, center armrest and repainted all the windshield/headliner surrounding trim. Some previous owner had drilled a hole in the one year only parking brake bracket under the dash to mount a manual choke...so I had to source one of those and replace it.
The side windows needed a lot of work because of the classic problem with the one year only '63 window garnishes. Like in NOT having any. So using '64s instead (which everybody does) caused a few issues but fixed now...
People who saw the car at Kissimmee and thought it looked nice should see it now. It's a well sorted out split window now IMO...

Do this and you will be glad the next time you pull the glove box:
cut that orange wire and install male/female connectors. Eliminates the need to mess with the light/switch and blow a fuse.
