Default harmonic balancer question

Does a 427/390 have a different balancer than a 427/425 in 1966??? If so, what is different??? Also, are all 11" flywheels the same and what would be correct for a 1966 427/390??? Thanks John Z. You have been a GREAT help!!!

BB hydraulic lifters = 7" balancer

BB solid lifers = 8" balancer.

There were two big-block flywheels. A lightweight 15# flywheel with 12-3/4" diameter, 153-tooth ring gear, and a 10.5" clutch was used on '65 L-78 (396/425), L-88, and ZR-1. All others used a standard weight (32#) flywheel with 14" diameter, 168 teeth, for an 11" clutch; these require the large (621 or 444) bellhousing.

Is the clutch fork and bell crank (z-bar) the same for the "403" bell housing as the "444" and "621"???

Linkage system parts are different depending on year, small-block, or big-block, but the bellhousings don't matter.

John,
Didn't all the 454 engines use the larger 8in (UNbalanced) balancer, regardless of hyd of solid lifters?

I don't normally deal with 1968-up stuff, but yes, all of the Corvette 454 applications, solid or hydraulic lifters, used the same 8" offset-weighted balancer. It had weight added to the inside of the hub (cast in - see photo below) rather than a partial groove machined in the O.D. of the inertia weight like the small-block (400) offset-weighted balancers.
