By comparison I think midyears are undervalued.
Even more ridiculous in my opinion is the severe undervaluing of 1968-1972 sharks. Why in the world plain Camaros, Chevelles, Chargers, Challengers, Mustangs, etc that were much cheaper and had production numbers in the hundreds of thousands are worth more than a much more expensive, faster, better handling chrome bumper Corvette is baffling to me. I just can’t understand how a 427 1969 Corvette is now priced significantly lower than a 396 Camaro.
For the most part it is nostalgia. Many people look back to their early life and remember the car they owned, lusted after or their buddy had. These cars were the ones that were affordable to them at the time. Although many would certainly rather have had a Corvette but the initial price AND insurance prevented it. Many that have these nostalgic feelings don’t even realize they can actually buy the Corvette the would have rather had back in the day because they don’t look and have tunnel vision for the original ride and this demand drives those prices.
I have had this conversation many times with people that are lusting over a 57 Chevy convertible. When I tell them they can buy a 57 Corvette for less they ar astounded.
Another thing that drives prices on thes “other” cars is a back seat that allows you to haul the family including grandchildren. This is often justification to the wife for this toy.

And then there are DREAMERS. I am sure that Gremlin will be for sale for a looooong time at that price. You can ask whatever you want but getting it is another story.

Regardless if you think that Gremlin is overpriced, $25k won’t buy you any other decent classic car. I see project Camaros selling for that much, and people desperate to buy them.

The Cars of Dreams Museum in Florida has also had this '64 coupe built by the Roadster Shop on that auction site for weeks.

Beautiful 1963 Corvette - $57,500

Here is a very very nice driver 63 corvette stingray. Triple black with matching hardtop. Frame off restored a bit over a decade ago and still beautiful. Interior is immaculate, hurst 4 spd, all gauges sent out and restored to like new, absolutely everything works including clock and cigarette lighter. New redlines and perfect knockoff wheels. Convertible top window plastic is cracked. Has classic Chevy 350 engine, side exhaust with hooker headers. Sounds amazing.

$57K is a really good price for a numbers matching running/driving '67 coupe. Almost too good to be true?

This is my 1957 aluminum head 383 powered Corvette for sale on BAT. It has many upgrades such as power steering, dual master cylinder brake system and alternator just to name a few.

If you know anyone looking for a 57 please direct them to the above link.
Thanks,

Default Inflation

For those unaware of what's happening in the market place, on BAT within the last month, here are a few sales. These were all basically stock, small block, 4 speed cars.

A '67 coupe, (big block hood) but an L79 sold for 97K: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-corvette-105/

A '67 coupe with a base 300 hp engine sold for 91.9K: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-corvette-111/

A '67 convertible, base 300 hp engine sold for 89.5K: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-corvette-115/

A '67 convertible, L79 was bid to, but not sold for 101K! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...onvertible-62/

Nice, clean, stock, small block, mid-years will soon be 100K + cars. The market trend is undeniable for whatever reason. A raising tide, lifts all boats.

The person trying to sell this car should have saved himself a lot of time and just typed "Corvette For Sale". What a terrible write-up for a For Sale ad.
