Opinions on these C1/C2 for sale

Hey Richard,
thank you for this one. I totally agree on big wheels on a C2. I don’t like it either.
But it has AC!?
Unfortunately no photo of critical parts like the kick up area. Anyone of you guys close enough to visit the car?
And I think it’s impossible to get this through as a „historic“ car which means a lot more tax than on a historic car. Classic cars in Germany get an „H“ on their number plates if they are important car relicts with at least 30 years of age.
Nonetheless I will watch this.
Once again thank you for this one!

I was using what I saw in the pictures to say it does not seem to have A/C added. No vents under the dash that I could see in the two pictures of the dash and foot-well areas, and no pressure lines or (obvious) compressor in the admittedly poor engine pictures. SO, IMO, based on those pictures, it looks like they chose not to add the A/C parts to the project. The engine looks pretty tight in there as well, but the pictures are not very good, so...
Anyway, I agree it will be interesting to see where it ends up.
Cheers!

Anyway, nice car. Too bad he did not list a real price.

Rich - pretty sure the interior trim on the Aux Hardtops were supposed to be interior color. When I got my Maroon over Maroon 65 L78 Roadster a couple years ago,
someone had chromed the inside trim..which I like.

Is the trim painted steel or stainless steel? If SS maybe they just striped the paint off and polished it. I could see that happening IF the paint was chipping/peeling off as an inexpensive appearance upgrade.

I found it ODD that the people in the garage are wearing sweaters and the thermometer on the wall appears to be reading 40 degrees! In TAMPA? Not anytime recently.

Hey Darryl - The inside trim is painted mild steel. The hardtop I picked up for the 66 was in bad shape and the inside trim had been painted black but turns out w
as blue underneath. There was a tiny bit of rust developing
where the paint had chipped off so I sanded them and painted them Blue again. If they had been chromed and in good shape, I would have left them alone...just like the top from the 65 Roadster.

Seems odd to me to spend money on chrome something like this that is only seen on the inside WHEN the hardtop is in use. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Plenty of people think I spend a lot of money foolishly too.

I remember years ago when most of the car guys used to say..."If it don't GO, Chrome it". These days, having those pieces chrome plated has to be fairly expensive I'd imagine.

In this ad, they already talk about selling due to "hard economic times". With 75% or more of the C2s owned by retirees, I expect this woke inflation cycle will drive more such sales...retirees are hit hardest by inflation. And this is the worse inflation in 40+ years!

I have been a long time lurker on this thread and greatly appreciate everyones comments and insights on so many of these cars. I say lurker because with the prices of C1s and C2s, I have no business in actually thinking of purchasing one. I feel I am still somewhat young and mid-career in my life. But like everyone else, with prices of everything going up and two kids, my dreams of finding that C2 that I want is still out of reach. I am blessed with what I have and can afford, and will continue to count my blessings.

My point is, don't go into debt to get that dream car. Save your bucks and the time will come thru hard work and a little of luck. The wife wasn't a big fan of the GTO but loves the 67 Corvette.
