Default 65 inside door lock

I need suggestions on removing the lock button from the door panel without damaging the panel. I can't get the tool behind the lock button.

Many of us use a rag that you slide under **** and pull it to catch the end of the clip . Or others use a dental pick to release it.

It is the hardest of the ***** to remove, when you put it back remember which way the ends of the clip are so that you can find them next time.

Default Made a nice tool from this

Put a little more "hook" on the end of this paint can opener and it works great to grab the closed end of the clip. I also put a dogleg in the shaft to get the loop end lifted up from the panel. Easier to work with.

The cloth trick never worked for me until I used the bottom hem of a T-shirt cut into a flat strip, like a shoelace.

Great advice from Jack on remembering which way you pointed the clip when reinstalling.

Never had a bit of luck with the cloth strip. I always feel like some lame-azzed shoe-shine boy when I try it and maybe that's affecting my technique.

Instead, I bought a set of small hooked tools and place a thin plastic bondo spreader (or one of those flimsy, plastic cutting boards your wife has) under the **** but over the vinyl for protection. Then lever the **** away from the plastic with a brake spoon and use the hooked tool to ****** the omega clip upwards.
Put a folded towel on the ground under the **** cuz when it pops off you have about a 50/50 chance of catching it.

Always reinstall the clip with the ends DOWN IMO to make snatching it off easier by pulling upwards on its looped end.

borrow wifie's hair dryer and use to warm door panel around the ****. This will allow panel to easily flex inward when you carefully slide tool behind **** to pop the clip. Heat panel again when installing the **** and window and vent handles and they will all go back on much easier.

Default Use a shoestring!!!

Just took the lock ***** off a 66 coupe with very nice original door panels, so I had to be very careful. After dicking around with shop rags, hooks, and dental pics, I finally decided to try something new.

Took my shoestring out of my shoe, and looped it around the ****, pulled it back and forth a time or two, and the clip just popped right off. Took both ***** off in about 2 minutes. Off course, my left foot got cold on the concrete floor.......
