Looking at a 64 coupe which is an excellent driver.It was born with a 327-365hp.However, the engine was replaced with a like 327-365 hp.How much would the replaced motor reduced the value of the 64? The asking price of the coupe is $42000?

It depends on the condition of the whole car. Does the engine have correct 64 dated parts that's unique to the 365

You need to look at it from a different perspective, its a driver, not a show car. Look at the major dealers websites, see what a similar car with awards and orig engine is getting and then adjust down. Dont dismiss a great car for a non Orig engine, but dont pay top dollar either.

That $42k is in the ball park, depending on the other factors already mentioned. Upper $30's is probably more reasonable.
