Looking at a 64 coupe which is an excellent driver. It was born with a 327-365hp.However, the engine was replaced with a like 327-365 hp.How much would the replaced motor reduced the value of the 64? The asking price of the coupe is $42000?
You need to look at it from a different perspective, its a driver, not a show car. Look at the major dealers websites, see what a similar car with awards and orig engine is getting and then adjust down. Dont dismiss a great car for a non Orig engine, but dont pay top dollar either.
Hey, just stamp that correct number on it and pick up the difference! Somebody out there will be glad to pay you a premium for something that doesn't matter to most owners.

If you need an exact number,
$4,503 less value
Boyan

That $42k is in the ball park, depending on the other factors already mentioned. Upper $30's is probably more reasonable.
