The drum brakes work fine, albeit a little scary; and the rear window visibility issue is a myth.

When driving mine and looking rearward, I've never seen a car I couldn't see

Member paulwannafly built a '67 split window; sold it to some dillweed who promptly totaled it!

Going forward in the 63 is fine, but backing up is the tough part.

Backing up any coupe is the 'tough' part. The split has no bearing on rear visibility required to back up.

Frankly, I miss a right hand side door mirror more. If you've ever driven large trucks you don't get a "rear" view anyway; you have to learn to live in your side view mirrors...

I'd put one on but the my car didnt come with one. I cant bring myself to drill holes in the door.

I won't add one to my 63, but the original owner of my 70 added one and I love having it. The 70 is already easier to see out of than the 63, but that right side mirror sure makes life easier on lane changes.
