Is it possible to retro fit the older PCV sys that was used in 1965 motors to a newer block? I have a 1965 327/365 car that is missing the orig motor and has a 67 or 68 327 in it. The orig motor had a fitting that vented from the block into the air cleaner and the newer ones vent from the valve covers. I found an orig intake and carb and would like to go with the orig alum. valve covers but they have no openings. Any solution other than finding a 1965 block?
Hey SMI-FST,
I am working out a PCV setup on my '62 right now. The Block is '66. What I have found out is That block with the Vent tube rear and
oil filler front was made up until 66. Then the block changed and the
valve covers were used. It would be a whole lot simpler to go with the
'68 style valve cover type fittings. You might either modify your valve
covers OR replace them. Other than that You Probably will need an older block. You might be able to have the block machined for that fitting But
I'm not sure if it is the same design internally. I hope this helps a bit.

Search around, this has been talked about recently. Bottom line is people are talking about using vented filler pipes and drilling PCV holes into the intake manifolds. There are rvrn pictures on a recent post. Also the flange at the back of the block was still there in 67, possibly later. It did not disappear in 65 I know because I bought a new L-79 crate motor in 67.
