I have this lower ball joint which I plan to re-use. The A-arms are back on the car, but I am unclear how this item is supposed to be installed. One mounting bolt is unique (large head, no threads on upper region).
Does this bolt go into only one of the mounting ears (front or rear?)? From the inside or outside of the A-arm?

Should have taken a picture...
It installs as shown in UPC 3 in the Assembly Manual, except the rivets on the ears are replaced by bolts; don't recall whether the bolt with the large head (steering stop) goes to the front or to the rear, as it isn't used on original arms with riveted ball joints.

Well, you have gotten me one step further John! Now I know the purpose of the larger bolt! And to act as a stop must then mount with the head on the outside!
And where on earth can I source one of those rubber bushings?
What rubber bushing? Do you mean the black rubber boot?
Yes John, sorry. The boot. I need lower boot only and can't seem to find one anywhere. There was a poly set from vansteel but I was hoping for something rubber and somewhat original in appearance.

The boots are available at Autozone for $15 each. They come with a free ball joint. I just replaced my lowers.
The original-style rubber boot on the lower ball joint has never been available by itself - it's an integral part of the ball joint. Either spend the bucks for the ball joint from America's Finest Corvettes with all the judging-correct features, or buy the Moog joint and move on.
