Default Stolen 72 returned 43 years later......

....and the 19 year old girl (at that time) and her Corvette have been reunited. Car doesn't look too bad either. But that tacky interiour has got to go! Somebody is out quite a bit of restoration bucks.

Pardon if this is a dupe, but I couldn't find it on the first page.

Considering it was the 70's, I think I'd keep it. Whoever put that into the car was obviously around back then, and wanted something that was period-correct. I never did something like that to my Vette but lots of people did back then.

Viewed in that context, I actually like it.

Good ending for the lady but the horror story is just beginning for the previous owner(s) who may not have known the car was stolen.

Smart public relations by Allstate - if they paid the claim on the theft, they own the car when it is recovered. Corporate heads probably considered the publicity on returning the car to its owner would outweigh any monetary gain from the auction of a '72 Corvette.

Maybe the last registered owners insurance would pay for replacement? Then the insurance company might go after any licensed dealer that may have been involved.

Way cool! My first new Corvette was a 72 coupe, Ontario Orange. That was when they were affordable for average Americans wages. Glad she got her car back, and bet she never sells it. Now about those seat covers.........

How old do you think those G60-15 tires are?

She hardly looks like she is 62 years old.

The last registered owner's insurance was cancelled about four nanoseconds after it was discovered that the car was stolen; that guy is strictly S.O.L.
