Starting Problem with 67

When you opened up the solenoid and checked the big round disc, did you inspect the the two large studs or contacts for the disc? This is where the wear usually is. You just need to turn each stud 180* and reinstall. The starter is fine, if you need to, just replace the solenoid with a new one.

Just wanted to close the loop with all. I finally got sometime to work on the car. I picked up a replacement AC/Delco solenoid last week and installed it today. The engine fired up the first try and several times after that.
I put the original solenoid on the shelf in case some future owner wants to recondition it and put it back into service on the original starter motor.
As for the fusible links, I found some step down connectors online. These are butt end connectors that enable you to connect two wires of different size. I was planning to replace the fusible links going to the solenoid but right now everything is running fine so I think I will save that for another day. I have lost too many days of enjoyment, so for now I think I will just drive it for awhile.
Thanks for all the help.
Jim
