I guess every build should expect some set backs. After getting the exhaust and wheels wrapped up started driving around the neighborhood and noticed some shrink on the passenger front fender. I was expecting to bring it back to Painter to wrap up some other issues with headlights as well as doors however not this soon. I decided I did not want to wait, I was right but I wish I was wrong

ong.

After coloring sanding the issue was still there so the sanding begins

After digging deeper on my new paint job he found an earlier repair that was bonded with bondo his guy missed

now correctly repaired

then primed

sanding

Cover everything to coat the engine compartment with some coating to protect over spray<br/>

Needed to color sand the entire front end

Only the front fender need more black

Clear

more clear

Polish

more polish

We decided to removed the inner lip of the bonding strip so if the tires contact they won't grab anything

finishing up the exhaust panel

Thanks, if this has happened to you on a build you know what it's about

Default Interior Begins

After working out a number of kinks (installing the windshield 2 times), 6 speed shifter, mechanical speedo, road sand blasting we finally got around to the dash. Brought it to my guy to recover the dash in BMW flat black leather with white contrast stitching which will be the theme for the whole interior, I'm very happy with the results. With the raised tunnel due to the 6 speed the dash is custom, the ac ducts are custom, vintage air mini gen II was needed, custom everything custom. Had to send the clock back, worked with Tremec on the shifter which continues to leak, optima Battery died, Summit sent a new one no questions etc, etc. The MOMO wheel may be a bit small so looking for options

Wow, love the interior! I agree with you, the Momo wheel looks great, but I wish it was available in at least a 15” diameter.

very nice....certainly a labor of love and continuous hits on the wallet!

What are you doing with the hood pie pans? Anything custom or stock?

Nothing but time and money I always say!

The theme has always been keeping it as stock looking as possible, hood will be stock. I chromed the cookie sheets for durability, taped and painted the centers SEM trim black

What camber setting do you have on the rear tires?

I wanted the car to have slight rake rear to front however the body lines and the front fenders really through it off. Additionally, the Roadster Shop chassis is not adjustable beyond a certain point. We ended up at 1\2 positive in the rear, the only way to get more is to lower it which I don't want to do.

In the front I'm about .5 negative on camber and 5.5 on caster

I am surprised that you are positive in the rear...I expected at least 0.5 negative.....you will want to be careful on corners as your tire patch will only become less in a corner....

Interior update: Had to wait 2 months to get in the shop and then another to get started, that said really pleased with the end product, getting closer. All BMW leather, headliner will be alacantra in black. Mercedes cut pile carpeting.

One piece headliner

A little dusty but loved the fit

At last, interior done, 6 months I guess it part of the journey. I have owned the car for 6 years and it has been in someone else's shop for 2 years. That said very pleased with the final product. See Elegance Auto Interiors in Upland CA

The interior looks fantastic! It's hard to beat black with white stitching, although I have gone to the dark side now and like to use red.

This is such a beautiful car and great build. Can you give some updated pics and status since it's been 6 months since the last post?
