Just because you throw that kind of money at it doesn't mean it will bring 200 or better. That's where builder talent makes the difference.
Thank you for the info - yeah I can see the difference in builder talent.

I really like the stance of your car : not dropped down over the tires and with a nice rake not like some others I've seen

Now I am not sure this quote.."110-120 out of pocket no labor related to the costs just to start"...before man-hours is accurate for all.

I'm interested in what parts cost break down you feel would be or could be appropriate ?

I can, of course, only speak from my perspective...so...buying a good car will cost about 40k...custom frame, 28k......then after that you can total up alot...but man hours are really subjective....depends on what you do yourself as opposed to what you pay others to do...so did I misunderstand that you were looking at this from the perspective of not, initially, having a car to start with....?

Are you for real spending $40K on a car you're going to discard pretty much majority of non body components ?

I never start with a running driving car. You pay to much for it. All you need is a body with a vin tag attached and a title. If it's on a rolling frame with some saleable parts that's a bonus. The 62 I built was a complete car that had been sitting for 30 years not running. First thing I did was sell everything I wasn't going to use which was just about everything.

Did you make the inner fenders or buy them. I haven't seen any available like those. I'm ready to buy some for my project.

I made them. They were made to fit the chassis to hide the upper control arms. Depending on what chassis you have they would need to be modified. As with any custom car you may need to use your imagination a little to make them fit your specific build.

The better car you start with in my opinion you will end up with a better product.
You will spend more in time or labor costs to get the same results,
body & interior
"the Bodyman" is the exception as he has his eye on the end result!
Watch the market see for yourself!

Some folks do... I think a fellow on another thread said he bought a 63 already modified, to now go and re-modify it to his liking...
