Default Quick Fuel and drop base

I'm considering going with a Quick
Fuel slayer carb. If anyone might know; will a 1 inch drop base air cleaner clear the secondary air valve housing on this carb? .. Thanks

The secondary air valve is only part of the problem...you need a certain amount of air cleaner clearance above the air horn for the carb to operate efficiently - that's the bigger issue...

Frankie ..
I know what you mean about the hood clearance problem. I'm currently running this drop base air cleaner on an electric choke AFB with an EPS intake manifold.

The 3 inch tall air cleaner element will not work with this combo. A 2 inch filter element will work, but the 1 inch of base drop only leaves a 1/2 inch for air to flow between drop base pan and air cleaner top. The air cleaner top was modified to accept additional filter media for better airflow.
The drop base pan was hammer bumped in the area of the electric choke housing to allow a little extra clearance.

The secondary air valve position on the QF Slayer looks to be iffy using a drop base air cleaner. Hopefully, only a minor modification might be needed to accommodate the Slayer carb. I hope that's the case. .. Thanks

I ran a QF SS650VS on my '67 Chevelle; if the Slayer is configured similarly (I don't know about them) then, yes, you'll have a problem with the air valve, but, its no higher than the fuel bowls (at least on my carb) so you'll have problems with 3/4 of the circumference of the drop base.

The Slayer secondary air valve is configured similarly. The main difference is no secondary metering plate with the Slayer series. Sure wish the AFB in the off idle rpm range had the tuneability of Quick Fuel carbs.

They are great carbs....much like Holleys but tunable by mere mortals....

If you buy the right Q/F carb for your application, you can pretty much bring in the A/F ratio with the idle air bleeds with a 5 minutes swap....
