1963 SWC value?
If I were buying today I would bite the bullet and get an NCRS/Bloomington Gold car. It will be the cheapest way to get into a car that will hold it's value. Project cars are a bottomless money pit.
The other alternative it to just buy a non-numbers matching beater and sort out the chassis and brakes. Then just drive it and have fun.

This is where I go mine This one is better that the one shown above
That would bring it down to the $25,000 neighborhood, give or take. As you say, for a resto-mod, maybe not so bad, but for a restoration, there would be a lot of time and effort spent chasing down a lot of one year only parts.

) who see SWC prices falling also believe there is an impending crash in the prices of '63 SWC-only trim pieces, and console parts, and power brake components, and glove box doors, and... other stuff

I have to say, you sure broadcast the net wide enough. Going from that trashed out project car to this beauty. You made the right call....
