Just finished my new ACC carpet project, it was the last thing to do in rejuvenating my interior. My old carpet was awful, just jute backing on a bare floor. The foam had crystallized long ago, bad!
After completely sanding the floor, I laid down Frost King foam insulator, including inside the kick panels and doors. I wanted a good fit in the hump area so I glued down just that portion of carpet.
Had trouble with the drivers side carpet being 1.5" too long. History tells me this is a problem dating back to 2009, yet Willcox said this was the first time he's heard of this. My friend was also doing his '59 using ACC and he had the same problem. Is it just on '59 models? Thought there was no difference?
Anyway, Willcox said they'd take care of it, but on the way to the UPS store I stopped by an upholstery shop and they fixed it for $15. Couldn't tell the difference. Didn't want to wait two weeks to get it back, worth it to me.
Today I clean up the car and shop then take it for a drive. This will be the first time also with the newly painted hardtop.
Thanks to Frankie for his carpet install write-up including pics. The YouTube Paragon video could have been better.
