I've also got the VHX set but with silver faces and blue lighting. The display connects to the brain via a single Cat5 cable so you have a lot of flexibility as far as location. There's plenty of space behind the clock, which is where I mounted mine. And you'll find that you also have a lot more room behind the instrument pod with the new gauge set.
Thanks... More reason to spend the money before I croke ... I learned a long time ago that life is very precious...and I promised myself if I ever made it back form the bush that I would try and enjoy what time I have left.
