Default Tire Size 205 70 r15

Hi Guys,
Wanted to get some opinions on tires size. I did search all the previous posts but didn't find anything relating to my question. I am looking at a set of used redlines size 205 70 r15, I believe my car (67 convertible) should have 205 75 r15. According to diamond back tires there is a 1.25" difference between the two sizes. Would the 205 70 r 15 look to small? Would you stay away from the smaller size? Interested to hear what you all have to say. Thank you in advance for all of your help.

I have a 64 and just put on 205's on 15x6 rims and they are great, the 215's rubbed when I turned the wheel really tight. Here is a couple of photos before and after.

I have the following on my car now. 65' L76

Front: 205/70/15
Rear: 215/70/15

I just ordered Diamondback II's in 205/75/15 (5/8'' white wall) on all 4-corners because I wanted to keep the stock\factory look (in a radial) and the 215's that I have on the rear look too fat.

A 70 series tire is wider and shorter than a 75 series tire. Better for handling and better acceleration from a light. However, I am a fan of a car being able to cruise, and with most 'vette rear end ratios (unless you have a 3.08) you'd be hurting your highway abilities with the shorter tire. Personally, I like the 75 series here.

My car has 4:11 gears so highway travel already suffers. With that said will the 205 70 r15 tires look to small?

They do to me. I had blackwall 205-70 and replaced with 205-75 redlines and really like the difference. Here's the before and after:
Click on the pictures to get the ratio correct, they look oval if you don't. The 75's also made my speedometer right on.

To be fair, I had jacked the car up and not driven to settle back down on the blackwall picture, but there was still a very nice improvement in the fill of the wheel well.

Haven't used 205/70/15 but here is my Michelin X 215/75/15 tires which I think fill the wheel well nicely.
