Given the choice, I'd prefer to install the aftermarket Traction Masters (yes, they're still in business) instead of the factory radius rods; both of my 57's had Traction Masters pretty much from new, and still had the fully-usable original rear springs after 40+ years.

57s didn't have struts, so have you welded the traction bar front attachment link to the spring support or are you letting it swivel? or, if one was to retain the struts, do you leave the bar link free to swivel?

You HAVE to weld the forward end of each bar to the spring support - that connection has to be solid. If you also have the '59-up radius rods, remove them - the differing radii between the two systems will bind up the rear suspension.

Engineer ---> Looks like the metal used to make that spring was in the process of returning to its natural state and rejected the load being placed on it.

pinion seal bad blowing diff lube onto the underside of the mufflers unless you have already replaced it and the stains are from the old seal.

maybe, maybe not; the stains on my mufflers comes from excess grease from the ujoint.
