I am still getting to know the 66 coupe I bought and making a "to do" list. It's my first C2. The courtesy lights don't work and it appears I am missing the switches in the doors. Where are they supposed to be installed? Looking at the picture of my door I figured they might go at the bottom, where the washer and bolt are? Anyone have a picture of the switch?
Thank you. <br >
You really need to get the AIM for your year car (Assembly Instruction Manual). The switches are located in the jambs (at the hinge pillar) and not on the door.
That washer and bolt in your picture secure the vertical rear window channel for your side window...

It's inside the door jam, top hinge area, mounted in a recessed circular depression. It provides a ground source for the interior lights, when door is opened, switch closes creating ground to the switch wire.

Thank you. The previous owner is supposed to mail me all the manuals that he has so I have been holding off to see which ones he's got.

Check the electrical connector on the rear of the switch if you have it in the car. Sometimes they are left off....you might get lucky and that's all that is wrong.
The same lights should light when you rotate the headlight **** fully past full inst panel brightness (you'll feel a click). They should light with the headlights off or on and ignition off or on. If they do, the problem is in your door switch grounds. If they don't, you may have a bulb or power problem, or fuse. It's the same fuse as your brake lights, so if they work, it's not the fuse.

Thank you DZVette, i was trouble shooting the same issue. i sold my 67 Camaro RS Convert about 10-months ago and did most of the restoration myself, so i am somewhat okay around 60's chevys. i just picked my 66 Corvette Coupe up about 3-weeks ago, and cleaning up the little things, and notice none of the curtsey lights were working, so i go out an purchase some "90" bulbs and yes they stay on all the time. and very hot to remove after a 5 or so minutes... So now i will trouble shoot the switch. i noticed in your pictures, the plunger was out significantly, when i did find mine (after your pictures) they are only out about less than 1/4" .
I gave my AIM for the camaro with the new owners, and yes i recognize i need on for the Vett, so let me get that out of they way before they pile on! its ordered...
