Only a 4-5 year run for the C7? Seems like many product life cycles are getting smaller as the progression of technology speeds up. http://blog.caranddriver.com/c8-in-2...olet-corvette/
By the time we get LT1 swaps figured out, we'll have a new engine to think about.

The C-8 will probably have the same anticipation as we had for the C-7. I have a C-2 and C-6 with no desire for a C-7 at this time. I hope the C-8 is interesting enough to consider getting.
If you've been here on the forum as long as I have, you remember the rumors about the C5 being mid-engine... then the C6 was going to be mid-engine.... then the C7 was going to be mid-engine....

They were talking mid engine back in the 70's. It will happen this time around. The C6Z and C7Z simply can't put the power to the ground. The mid engine platform will really help with traction. Still have my C6 Z and like the car alot. After driving the C7 Z I really wasn't stimulated to buy one. The C8 should be a heck of a car.

Chevy built a proto type in the mid 60's that was a mid engine saying after the mid years they where going to go mid engine.
Whatever keeps the Corvette a relevant and competitive option is ok with me, but I dislike the move personally. However I bought a c6 new and found it to be the most attractive Corvette made since 1972, and very capable. Any increase in capability they have after the c6 is just insulating bad drivers further from winding up in the hay bales. virtually NONE of us who are non professionals can use the power without increasingly sophisticated nannies and no more is required for the street.
The tech guys may love it- but the car is compensating for us more and more. I like it the other way around. If they buy it- great. I'm out.

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
