I had several friends excellent, highest quality, newly restored by the top people, award winning cars, that did not come close to reserve. The money was NOT in the room today.

It's shorter than typing "1963 Corvette Aero Coupe" -- so get over it

The market for strong, high quality, no excuse cars is still doing quite well. The cars that appear to be bargains in general have issues, and the educated buyers know what they are bidding on. The auction descriptions are pretty vague so you better know what you are doing and lay some educated eyes on the cars before hand. Pro Team was selling a couple of cars, I didn't see Terry buying any.
So what was wrong with the red Z06 SWC? Restamp? Sketchy provenance? It sold about $75K low even after being touted on Pro Team's website.

Yeah - pretty silly to object to shorthand for a specific car because you incorrectly think their owners are too prideful. ROFLMFAO, OMG, LOL.

Yeah - the ad reads well but I can't help but feel there is something lurking in the background somewhere.

But again, an individual auction can certainly have an 'off' set of circumstances and may go bonkers next time. Hardly cause for the "sky is falling" bruhaha.

Maybe the problem is that '63 SWC is redundant. All you need is SWC.

Of course, you can't just call it a '63, since it could be a convertible.

I sometimes say BB, too. The things we get on about.

Correct.
It is redundant.
SWC does not bother me as a car guy, but as a professional writer, I can confirm it is indeed technically redundant.
1963 coupe is fine.
Split window is fine.
1963 split window is fine.
BB is fine because it differentiates BB from SB.
Free gift, new record, end result, join together, SWC, etc., are all examples of common redundant terms.
I normally charge one-thousand dollars-an-hour for this advice...lol.
My rant is now completely over.

First time I had been to a Mecum auction, the crowd was thin even on a Saturday afternoon/evening. The January Scottsdale auctions make this event look pretty dismal. The sell through percentage was probably around 30% or so. Probably less than that if you carve out the non-collector cars that are running through and selling for less than $20 grand.

Indeed, everyone must change their use of an acronym because it rankles some folks.
Sorta like the Confederate Flag....

We must all be politically correct as I watch the neighbor's kids outside playing "Cowboy and Native Americans"..

Since when is anything I post mean that much to everyone like the other poster stated its just redundant to say it all the time. It gets old when every tom dick and Harry ask does your coupe have a split window clearly after I say it's a 67 back in 2013 it got really out of hand. But it seems to calm down

You aren't the only one...and besides what do I do about my license plate?

Not only does it have the redundant acronym; it includes the year so its doubly redundant and its physically on a car which is obviously a '63 coupe so its triply redundant.

I'm surely going to hell
