Jackfit, do you know which handle number you have? I would like it curved back a little but the handle that came with my shifter is straight and only about six inches tall. If nothing else could you measure the height of yours from the top of the mounting point to the ****?
The number 2705 is stamped between the two chromed welds at the base. One of my '65s PO's installed in 1968-9. I removed it in 1991 for the stock GM. Shifter assy also has the thick mounting plate.

I could post a couple of pics if interested.
I went ahead and ordered a 8" tall replacement stick (Hurst 5380015) that has a rearward curve to it. It will not hurt if it is a little taller.

I will be interested to hear how you like where the shifter ball 'sits' and how the travel feels because the angle is at the bottom of the stick instead of higher up like my shorter one is..

It will be a few weeks before I get around to this as I am also swapping the hard clutch that will facilitate an easier shifter swap. I'll report back afterward.

thanks... the shorter stick on my SS700 is lacking a bit of mechanical advantage leverage for getting sideways into reverse; a longer stick would help.. IF the position of the bend in the longer stick doesn't make shifting awkward.

I finally got a new clutch (much easier on the leg) and the Hurst shifter installed. The handle is now at mid thigh in 2nd/4th gear. I am happy with where it sits and shifts very easy except reverse is a little tricky for my wife.
Here are photos of it in reverse and 2nd gear. I have no idea why the photos are 90 degrees off.

Hi, I just rebuilt my 2507 , welded handle shifter. It looks like your 2nd gear has your handle low. Here are pictures of my shifter in Reverse, and in second gear. I have a much shorter throw it appears.
