Default New Engine Harness Help Needed

Trying to install my new engine harness on my 62 and noticed while pulling the old one the last owner had the red wire that usually goes to the regulator tucked in and not connected to anything
I have alternator now and wonder how to connect
should that red wire be connected to anything or will it connect to the alternator

any help is appreciated

Steve

Steve.

It is about impossobile to tell you what to do here with EXACT certainty. Without photos and a good description of where the other end of the 'red wire' in question is going. We do not know what the gauge size of this 'red wire' is. Any suggestions/advice would be just a guess.

Thx DUB
and sorry about the lack of info
It is a 12 gauge red wire and according to my diagram it runs from the ammeter to the voltage regulator
I dont have a VR anymore and the harness i pulled had the wire lose behind the radio console

I guess it will depend of you want your ammeter to work or not.

IF so...then the charging system diagram for a 1970 ( for example) would be what I would use to create the circuits to make the ammeter work with the alternator.

Thx DUB
1 thing i mentioned that the red wire that goes from VR to ammeter gauge was not connected
but i forgot to mention that the gauge worked fine
I am going to call Lectric Limited Monday and ask them the proper way and where to connect,,,( im sure they will have something to sell me)
spent a few hours in the oven i call a my garage today 95* in there today
i also have a new dash harness with head lights,,,, noticed i might need the wires from headlight to Dash harness
ones in there now seem pretty rough

When wires are not connected and items still work...that is when I pull out my wiring diagrams and volt/ohmmeter and begin checking wires and circuits and verify how much of the cars wiring is still facotry correct of if someone has gotten into it and began adding new wires for whatever reason. You would be simply amazed on how far I have gotten into wiring harnesses to find some of BOZO's handy work. I find them often times in the least expected areas.

Exactly why i asked on here,,, i dont have 1/10 the knowledge that this forum has
I figured a forum member has an alternator and might know where this wire connects to
Last year i bought the tail light harness from Lectric limited and this year i am installing new dash and engine harness's
I have 3 diagrams,,, one from a forum member ,,, one from lectric limited,,, they seem to be the same but i noticed they are not perfect,,some colors on diagrams do not match the harness.. so i got the Doc Rebuild diagram also... it sows the proper colors and connections
But !,,, none of them show how to connect wiring with alternator

I decided to go new harness;s because of the bubba add ons .... it is old and in my mind not safe,,, just to many extra switches and connections
