Exhaust Manifold choke tube
I have a 1966 with the 327 L79 engine. The exhaust manifolds were incorrect so I purchased a used set with the correct casting numbers. The right exhaust manifold, with casting number 3747042, is listed in my NCRS Judging Guide as the correct manifold for my car. The manifold that I purchased has a choke tube installed. Since my car has the choke mounted on the intake manifold this tube is not required. My question is, do all 3747042 manifolds used in 1966 have a choke tube or should I have searched for one that does not have the tube? Or were both styles used during this year? Thanks very much your help!

Do you have the correct intake and carb on there?

You should have searched for one without the tube. I would simply weld/braze up the hole, grind it down a bit, and move on.

I got exhaust manifolds at the right time from Paragon where they had NOT yet been drilled for the choke tube.....if you are concerned about it being in the manifold and NOT being connected to anything due your choke design.
It is depending on how 'factory correct' you are going for or if it is only for function and not being judged.
And as far as I know...there is no need to fill the tube due to exhaust does not escape out of this tube...it is strictly for heat.
