Ebay would be the way for the OP's customer to get maximum cash for the car. The car has just enough illusion of being a viable car that it will sell. Us savvy car guys know it's a money pit to be avoided....I wouldn't buy it except to flip it for a profit--nothing is correct and it's in bad shape. But it LOOKS good at first glance. That will sell the car to a non-car guy that has to have one. So Ebay would be the way to go. I personally wouldn't pay over 5 grand for the car, because I know better.

w/GTO.
Flip only theres your "investment".
Shame Id love to find something on the cheap I could drive, these things just cost too much. Someone will want some parts off it though.
Who appraised this thing id be a little torqued.
When I had my Abody done for ins. the guy wanted so see every detail underneath or he wouldnt give one. money well spent. Let me say this an appraisal amount means NOTHING come sell time lol. Trust me

And then you find it was nothing like you thought it was once the ink is dry on the title.
My advice years ago was to NOT let it seduce you. You want it, you need it, you have to have it, it calls you, you will die if you don't have it.
And if it does, you have to walk away and sleep on it, so that your head is clear. Take a friend along who hates Corvettes, preferably a mechanic.
It was one reason I began charging for advice years ago was people would ask what you thought about this car because they wanted to buy it. After you told them the truth on the car, they would get mad, say you didn't know what you were talking about , and frequently call me names. Then a few would write back later to tell me how they were screwed and it was my fault, even though I told them to walk away and NOT buy it, yet they would buy them anyway.
I didn't need that kind of garbage for free advice.
But if these people bought based on a written evaluation and an appraisal, they need to go back to the appraiser and start talking money. Unless the appraisal was done over the phone 30 years ago by a blind guy with a guide dog, there is no way anyone could have missed this.

That car is dangerous. I'd be afraid to drive it.
That being said, $5000 gets you a new frame. I could probably live with the ugly flares and paint.
The birdcage rust on the other hand, is a lot harder to fix. It's hard to say how bad that is and what effect it would have on the safety of the car.

I remember that is was so common to overpay that back in the '70s around St. Louis, the saying "everyone gets screwed on their first Corvette" was pretty common to hear.
it was my 3rd, but 1st C1
And then you find it was nothing like you thought it was once the ink is dry on the title.
absolutely, even Bubba, and his cousin Bondo Bill (the body man) would have been embarrassed...

it did... I, personally, have always thought the 62 to be the best of the C1s and I thought i'd never get a chance get one again....
And if it does, you have to walk away and sleep on it, so that your head is clear. Take a friend along who hates Corvettes, preferably a mechanic.
didn't help to sleep on it

do I regret it, after all this time, no... it's been an interesting 40 years with this car. would I do it again now; probably no, i'm a bit smarter now...
I have just driven the car yesterday for the first time since 11/3/2015 and it started right up and drove perfectly.....

Wow - this thread is still going ?
The car is a turdmobile....
There are 3 dozen out there somewhere without all the issues for the price it would take to buy and fix this one...

You guys sure are squeamish. So it needs a new frame, big deal. They build em everyday in MI. Looks like an opportunity for someone that's good with their hands to buy a mid year and not pay a fortune for it. Spend a few weekends putting a frame under it and some new suspension parts drive and enjoy. Not everyone wants a restored numbers correct showboat.

Yep, I see the pic. Still, I think the car could make a fun daily driver project for a person with the skills and equipment, providing the purchase price is right. Rot doesn't scare me. I weld and fabricate on locomotives for a living. Rusty frames and birdcages are child's play compared to what I deal with everyday. Now, peeling the fiberglass away to repair the rot does scare me. I'm a welder not a body man.

The problem with getting this one as a 'fixer' is the 'driver' asking price. No reason to pay 25k for a car that needs 50-100k of work to become a 40k car. The hook with this car is that, due to its decent, first-glance outside appearance, it presents the illusion of being a viable car. It isn't.
